When it comes to jobs, Boise’s got them.

Despite the ongoing complications with the pandemic, Boise job seekers have reason to feel optimistic about the future. A new report from Indeed.com indicates that the local job market is one of the hottest in the nation.

In fact, since early 2020, job opportunities have nearly doubled in volume, widening the career and job prospects of countless Boise residents at a critical time.

Boise joins other inland western states that are experiencing an explosion of job growth. Jobs are also widely available in Phoenix, Austin and Las Vegas.

Cities like Honolulu, San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Lansing aren’t as lucky.

Cities with healthy economies are feeling the ripples of migration. By the droves, a large contingent of job seekers is fleeing pricier locations and coastal cities, betting instead on communities like Boise.

Occupations that better lend themselves to remote work are falling behind. Jobs that require in-person presence are still there. But untethered workers would much rather do the same work in a city with a lower cost of living. They rather land somewhere with appealing amenities and plenty of space for outdoor recreation.

Boise certainly fits the bill.

The report uncovered additional findings of interest. While the new COVID-19 variant is a concern as it spreads, it has not negatively impacted job growth like its predecessors. In fact, job listings on the job search site are skyrocketing and are 75% above the baseline of pre-pandemic job availability.

What about hottest jobs? Human resources and software development jobs are in high supply.

Jobs in hospitality and tourism are widely vacant. Yet, recovery of jobs within these sectors is not keeping up with the current rate of the economy.

For many years, Boise was the nation’s best kept secret because it’s a great place to raise a family, has a low crime rate and is wide open to adventure.

It doesn’t take much exploration to realize how much of a recreation paradise Boise is. Rivers, mountains, canyons, lakes and every imaginable outdoor hobby are always a short drive or hike away.

The downtown Boise area is also a gem, filled with recent construction and plenty of shops and restaurants.

The capitol is also uniquely situated near both urban and rural sections, offering residents easy access to the best of both worlds. And when it comes to the weather, residents and visitors enjoy the absence of extremes. You’ll love the 200 days of sunshine, but you’ll also be happy that temperatures do not reach the levels of other sweltering Southwest regions. Weeks of subzero temperatures are nonexistent as well.
