A Ferris wheel and bird hunting do not usually mix well. But that’s what you’ll find at Scheels, a new sporting goods store planned for Ten Mile Crossing in Meridian.

The store is years in the making, but development issues led to a later arrival. It’s scheduled to open in 2024. When the store comes with a Ferris wheel, it’s easy to forget that the city has been waiting for a bit for a one-stop shop for sporting apparel, equipment, exercise machines, shoes and a lot of family entertainment.

In addition to the 65-foot Ferris wheel, Scheels also features a massive 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium with hundreds of fish. But that’s not all. Visitors will see time fly by with an interactive arcade, sports simulators, candy shop and other attractions.

When you get hungry, you can visit Scheels’ restaurant where gourmet soups, sandwiches, homemade fudge and coffee are served.

Scheels staff members are known as experts, offering customers a wealth of knowledge about sporting goods. They are passionate about their products, which include gear for fishing, hunting and shooting, home and yard and a fan shop with apparel from your favorite sports teams.

Scheels goes the extra mile to help customers rediscover their love for sports, hunting, fishing, camping and the great outdoors.

Customers will find world-class products and brands. When they walk out, they will feel pretty good that they have the equipment that will keep up with them.

And of course, every visit to Scheels is an experience that will get the blood of customers flowing before they even take on their next outdoor adventure.

Compared to the nearest competitor, Scheels is nearly twice the size at 240,000 square feet of retail space.

The store is the company’s 33rd location and has a rich history. Scheels got started in the early 1900s as a hardware store in Minnesota. It’ll employ more than 400 people in Meridian.
