Every year, Boise is listed as a top-ranking city to live in and has been referred to as being one of the best places to raise a family, one the healthiest places to live, one of the best places to retire, and the list goes on.
I know Boise very well. I was born and raised here, and am a proud graduate of Boise State University. I am licensed in Idaho and in my free time, I enjoy volunteering for local charities, cheering on the Boise State Broncos and supporting the Mrs. Idaho America Pageant.
There are so many reasons why Boise is a great place to live, but since we don’t have all day, I’ve decided to list my top three favorites:
Reason #1: Boise offers affordable family living. Boise has many of the same amenities as large cities like Portland or Seattle; however, census data shows that the median cost of monthly rent in Ada County is $805, compared to Seattle, where the median monthly rent is $1,000. Plus, the cost of goods and services in Idaho is less expensive than many other U.S. states.
Reason #2: There is a lot to do and see. Boise is full of outdoor adventure with hiking and biking trails, rivers, streams, ski hills and mountains just minutes away. Plus, there are attractions in the city like the ballet, the symphony, the opera and museums. Boise has the best of both worlds! It’s a place where you can enjoy the outdoors in the country and still experience the amenities of city life.
Reason #3: Boise is a safe place to live. Idaho has one of the lowest crime rates in the country and Boise is said to be one of the safest places to live in the west. In fact, data has shown only Utah’s crime rate was lower. It’s a place you and your family can call home without fear or worry.
