If you’re looking for a good American town to call home for you and your family, Boise might just be close to perfect. In fact, so many families want to live here that the inventory of unsold existing single-family residences is zero. Boise has it all – food, culture, the great outdoors, family-living, schools, and job security. But don’t take our word for it, read what researchers and experts have to say.

U.S. News analyzed 125 metro areas in the United States to find the best places to live based on quality of life, the job market, and desirability – Idaho ranked #23 on the “Best Places to Live” list.

Job security and stability is a big factor for families looking to buy a home. Idaho is tied for the eighth-lowest unemployment rate in the country at just 2.9 percent, while the national average sits at 4.1 percent. Additionally, Census data showed that Idaho is the fastest growing state in 2018. It grew 2.15 percent, faster than any other state, with the largest concentration of growth in and around Boise.

Perhaps the increasing demand for homes is due in part to Boise’s affordability compared to other cities its size. Boise is less expensive than Portland or Seattle. Census data shows the median cost of monthly rent is $805 in contrast to Seattle, where the median monthly rent is $1,000.

Another big draw is Boise’s recreational lifestyle. Many of Boise’s residents may spend their days enjoying nature. Boise is a recreationalist’s dream come true with a myriad of rivers, mountains, canyons, deserts and lakes – perfect for an active lifestyle. Boise also has a good climate. Winters are mild. Spring and fall are lovely. Plus, summers aren’t too hot. It’s the perfect setting for all-season hiking and biking.

Downtown Boise is growing with un urban development with new buildings and restaurants. Locally sourced food and drink dominate the foody scene. There are other attractions like ballet or opera available too. Boise has a fun and exciting nightlife that offers live entertainment, good food, and interesting people.

Buying a home in Boise is a great investment. In 2017, the median price of existing homes in Boise rose 22 percent and just might continue to grow with increasing demand.
